University partnership

Create Ts and Cs worked in partnership with The University of the West of Scotland (UWS) on a number of different projects. The free Contract Clinic is a service which aims to support young companies with commercial or business contract issues.

The initiative is run by David Reilly, Director at Create Ts and Cs and Dale McFadzean, an Academic Solicitor, alongside his team of law students.  For the past two years the team have been working to advise and educate small and start-up businesses in and around the Renfrewshire area. The Contract Clinic offers all of its services free of charge.

The service was aimed at:

  • People who have been made redundant that are thinking of starting up a business and require contractual guidance
  • Students who have started a business and require help with contracts
  • Small businesses that have encountered a contractual issue and require support or a neutral environment to discuss the issue

Nicki Chapman, Director of Black and White Media, attended the clinic looking for advice.

She said: “The contract Clinic was like a brain-storming workshop and it really got me thinking seriously about the importance of having a well-written set of terms and conditions that are actually relevant to how my business works.

It was really helpful to be able to discuss this in an informal, relaxed way without feeling like I was being judged for anything that I hadn’t got quite right.  I appreciate the clear, honest advice from David, Dale and the team.”

This partnership ended in 2015
